In 2002, Hussain Sajwani Ali Habib, a Middle Eastern businessman founded Damac Properties in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Damac company is well known for its glamorous designs and catchy advertising slogans and sales perks, such as a free Bentley with the purchase of a luxury apartment. Damac is an engineering, construction, real estate and architecture firm.
Hussain Sajwani family was middle-class and he was born in 1954, grew up the oldest of his brothers and was expected to quit high school and join the family business. He watched his father work long hours in his store and worked in real estate on the side to provide for his family. This was his incentive that gave him the ambition to succeed.
After high school, he attended the University of Washington, in Seattle where he completed his undergraduate degree in economics. His thirst for knowledge brought him to enroll in medical school in Bagdad which he would not complete.
After receiving his Economics degree Hussain Sajwani began work at GASCO in a managerial position. He resigned shortly after taking the job and started work at Abu Dhabi, a national oil company. However, Hussain Sajwani was determined to be successful in business, so he started Damac in 1982. In 1992, he started his own investment company called Zdico. Sajwani also started another company called Al Jazeira Services Co SAOG that presently has a gross of over 100 million USD.
Among Hussain Sajwani’s list of accomplishments, he is most proud of wife and four children. As any proud father, he wishes his children to grow up with a good set of morals and have access to the best education.
Hussain Sajwani has befriended and partnered with the recently elected President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. Together the two men planned and designed Trump International Golf Club in Dubai which has generated an estimated two billion dollars in sales from its luxury villas since its opening in February. Trump’s children, Eric, Donald Jr., and Ivanka have taken control of future business dealings with the Damac owner. Hussain Sajwani is enthusiastic about future business dealings with the Trump family.
